Humans VS. Robots

Humans VS. Robots

Mar 13, 2024

As the wind blow on a cold Lisbon evening, I find myself wondering, where does AI end, and the human touch shine?

After all, I write these newsletters by hand.

Every word, every sentence, hand written by me, and me alone.

I have access to the world's most powerful super intelligences.

I know how to prompt them in such a way to write entire sonnets in the style of Shakespeare.

I don't do it for "authenticity's" sake.

I don't do it because I'm on some misguided mission to keep certain aspects of myself "human".

I love technology, and I embrace it for every aspect of my life.

Rather, I write this way because I'm aiming to capture how I'm feeling in this moment.

I write this way because the human mind, and hand written touch are the best tools for this job.

So where should the bots start, and human touch begin? 💬

At the place of emotion?

Do we outsource the grunt work to the bots, and keep the feeling part for us?

After all, for many of us, feeling is the hardest part.

Some may claim "Robots can't feel", but there's also no evidence which proves they can't feel.

While AI lacks a physical body, it has access to the whole sum of human language describing how things make us feel. Is that the same thing?

Does all AI authored content lack some hidden energy preventing it from feeling "real"?

Most authors, and artists I've spoken to on the subject of AI tend to feel so.

Or at least they hope this is the case.

They hope there's something special about the human touch.

After months of consistent copywriting, I tend to agree.

Despite having access to the best AI tools, I still believe the best content is still human created.

While AI can perform magnificent feats, I have yet to fine tune my own hand-made models to replicate my voice.

That's not to say, I don't use AI at all in copy writing.

I use AI to help deescalate situations when tensions rise.

I use AI to enable my team to write in my voice so I can spend more time with my girlfriend.

I use AI to emulate the voices of my favorite writers when I seek inspiration.

Using these tools can't replace the human touch.

But they can save us time, and get us unstuck.
